Muteki Kanban Musume – An anime chaser for Honey & Clover

If you’re old enough to drink then you already know what I mean by the title of this post. However, if you don’t or are not old enough to drink alcoholic beverages then the best thing for you to do is not to find out for yourself. I personally do not like the “taste” of alcohol. In particular, I don’t like hard liquors. However, like any red blooded Texan I enjoy a couple of beers every now and again. In actuality, I’m not a very big drinker. I prefer Coke Zero or a Diet Dr Pepper. ...(more)...

Where am I going with this? Well, you see, I’ve compressed an entire first season of Honey & Clover and the first nine episodes of H&CII into about two weeks of anime marathon goodness. If you keep up with my blog you’ve probably noticed a lean toward a more melancholy or poetic tone of things. This is because I tend to blog the way I feel. H&C has its light hearted moments but a strong aspect of the plot is a melodramatic story between love, loss, and diverging feelings.

If you have even the tiniest inkling of a soul then H&C will pull on your emotions and probably leave you a little down. So, what you need is something to wash it back.

That’s where Muteki Kanban Musume comes in.

The idea of a chaser is to clear the throat by drinking something really strong, for instance 180 proof Vodka. Typically, one would follow up a hard shot with something less strong or a juice of some kind. Like I mentioned, I don’t like hard liquors. I used to find a follow up beer did the trick.

[Note: If you’re a youngster, I recommend not drinking…ever…but you’re going to do whatever you want so I take no responsibility. Someone would have showed you how to do that anyway.]

Don't let the look fool you, she is a demon

Muteki Kanban Musume is a show devoid of any type of depth what-so-ever. It is pure fun and comedy. The main character Miki literally fights the entire cast on a per episode basis, even her mom. I have literally laughed my way through each episode that I’ve watched. I know that some may not find the humor very appealing, but this show cracks me up beyond belief.

Miki's greatest opponent is a dog...(Toshiyuki, Miki, and Megumi)

I've been wondering what the show would be like if it was more in tune with the OP sequence. The opening is akin to your classic fighting anime with dramatic angles and a strong score. It is at total odds with what the show is actually like. I like the OP anyway, though.
